Kudos to Derek Loux for preaching Christ and Him crucified at FCF today.

Here’s my 3 favorite lines from his sermon:

“We don’t need Jesus to be our co-pilot, we need a whole new plane”

All humans are born sinners and deserve hell. Period. “We don’t need Jesus to jump in the pilot’s seat and get us back on course. We weren’t off a couple degrees. We were crashing and burning.” We were dead in our sin. Jesus came and died to give us the very DNA of God, the seed of His nature.

“The Cross is not a Social Reform Movement”

“It’s a darkness to light movement, a death to life movement.” “When we are regenerated we are completely re-created. Not revived, renewed or renovated. We are made of a new substance.” We now have the God-life in us – it’s what we are.

“Gratitude is the door to loving Jesus”

“We are getting a good deal…To show ingratitude to an infinitely glorious God is an infinite crime worthy of an infinite punishment. Our ingratitude produces ignorance rather than being caused by ignorance. We’re not damned for ignorance but for the sinister pride in every human heart to cheapen God’s glory into the image of man.”

Friends, let us continually ask the Holy Spirit for living understanding of these truths:

“God reconciled the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.” (2 Cor. 5:19)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Cor. 5:17)

Now, that’s Good News!
